the gaming console industry how fine it is and how loved indeed we all go rushing and camp two weeks ahead for them to go on sale here what happened when the ps2 was selling in stores :Only a few million people had obtained consoles by the end of 2000 due to manufacturing delays. After its release, it was difficult to find PS2 units on retailer shelves.[9] Another option was purchasing the console online through auction websites such as eBay, where people paid over one thousand dollars for a PS2. The PS2 initially sold well partly on the basis of the strength of the PlayStation brand and the console's backward compatibility, selling over 980,000 units by March 5, 2000, one day after launch, in Japan. This allowed the PS2 to tap the large install base established by the PlayStation — another major selling point over the competition. Later, Sony gained momentum with new development kits for game developers and more PS2 units for consumers. right time passed and we all got very comfortable with our ps2 and grew to love them i personally had to save for 5 years to buy my ps2 and i am very happy because we got some problems with the ps 3 and here is how it goes first there selling history:The PlayStation 3 was first released in Japan on November 11, 2006 at 07:00. According to Media Create, 81,639 PS3 systems were sold within 24 hours of its introduction in Japan.
Soon after its release in Japan, the PS3 was released in North America on November 17, 2006. Reports of violence surrounding the release of the PS3 include a customer shot,[32] campers robbed at gunpoint, customers shot in a drive-by shooting with BB guns,[34] and 60 campers fighting over 10 systems.
On January 24, 2007, Sony announced that the PlayStation 3 would go on sale on March 23, 2007 in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and New Zealand. The system sold about 600,000 units in its first two days.[36] On March 7, 2007, the 60 GB PlayStation 3 launched in Singapore with a price of S$799.[37] The console was launched in South Korea on June 16, 2007 in a single version equipped with an 80 GB hard drive and IPTV. right ppl got shot over it and camped out for it and did all sorts of things for it and even sony got a raw deal on the ps3 heres how: The PlayStation 3's initial production cost is estimated to have been US$805.85 for the 20 GB model and US$840.35 for the 60 GB model. However, they were priced at US$499 and US$599 respectively, meaning that every unit was sold at an estimated loss of $250,[66] contributing to Sony's games division posting an operating loss of ¥232.3 billion (US$1.97 billion) in the fiscal year ending March 2007. In April 2007, soon after these results were published, Ken Kutaragi, President of Sony Computer Entertainment, announced plans to retire. Various news agencies, including The Times and The Wall Street Journal reported that this was due to poor sales, whilst SCEI maintains that Kutaragi had been planning his retirement for six months prior to the announcement: and now every thing is fine the years have passed and it has shipped like 5.5 million units worldwide and the costs for for making a ps3 has dropped to just over 400$ and we are all happy....... or are we?
despite selling 5.5 million units worldwide the ps3 is still behind the wii and the xbox 360 and the real problem is in 3rd world countries like where i come from , here how it works: n 3rd world countries fact is very few ppl can afford consoles and those who can can never afford more then at max 5 original games , so what we do? we buy fake copies this might sound like it hurts the company (e.g. Sony nintendo Microsoft) but it actually is more like a necessity , so a ps3 game here costs about 8000 kshs. thatwhich is about 100$ and that much money can a.buy you more then 20 pirate games, pay your monthly house rent buy your weekly food for a month or pay for a full petrol tank 8 times , so what wii have done is make there games pirate-able so that there consoles sell and ppl play , same with xbox 360 but ps3... un- hackable and so you have to spend 8000kshs or 100$ dollars on a game which frankly no can afford , and so ppl go for wii or xbox360 , so sony made a mistake fact is they gambled and they lost when it comes for the ps3 in-fact sony life line is games like mgs4 or the new gta (mgs4: metal gear solid 4, gta grand theft auto ) so what do you think is a ps3 worth the trouble and cost? or should we stick to our wii's and xbox360's? or older ones like ps2 or xbox? should sony make games more hackable so that ppl can buy the consoles and play? or have sony made the perfect decision and we are just paranoid about nothing? what ever your opinion please post reply's and let us know
and let us know all the fun things and quirks you have one your consoles
and see you in our next edition watch out be safe and love life peace.
{despite what is say above i prefer to use my brain to get thru video games and think dirty thoughts and that i have seen the dark night, how to destroy city's like the joker does i feel like super man in a very humble way }
