Yesterday night, at around 9:00 pm, a riot started in Montreal in an area called Montreal-Nord! The roit started at an intersection where a 18 year old guy was killed the day before and the people burnt 5 cars who belonged to the 5 fire fighters and then, it didnt stop there, they then broke the glass of the fire station and nearly completely destroyed a new fire truck that costed 600 thousand dollars! After that, the police came and the people decided to walk for about nearly a kilometer to the east to an intersection of 2 main streets of the area where they broke the doors and windows of several shops and started throwing the things in the street and then putting them on fire! Also, they started stealing electronics and clothes! The police left them like that for nearly an hour and them reinforcements arrived and the police decided to advace towards the people! So, the people started running and there was 6 arrests but for sure, for the weeks that will follow, the police will get more people and armed guys who fired several bullets in the air and towards the police officers! It was frightening but those people say that they are doing so cause the tension between them and the police really greatly rose during the last year and they say that police officers always stop them and search them for any guns or cocaine and they dont do the same thing with the locals! So, it is a question of descrimination and it makes me really remember the Los Angeles riots in 1992!
